ABOUT THE EVENT

Outcomes University is a biennial symposium of the leading minds in business.

Hosted by Forethought among an audience of executive peers representing many of Australia’s pre-eminent brands, our speakers share contemporary thinking, theories and case studies on marketing driving business outcomes.

This year will be the 11th time Forethought has hosted this event. Many leaders from the media, marketing and advertising fraternity have shared their thinking and ideas at Outcomes University over the years.

This year we present an extraordinary line-up of the best and brightest minds in marketing, advertising and media, discussing some of the industry’s most pressing issues, including:

Adam Ferrier

Founder/Chief Thinker at Thinkerbell

Topic: 'Marketing Communications: The Best, The Worst and Why'

Adam is one of Australia's leading creative strategists, and a consumer psychologist. Adam began work life as a criminal psychologist, before becoming a cool hunter (and completing his masters in psychology in ‘Identifying the Underlying Constructs of Cool People’) and then co-founding Naked Communications APAC. Naked was a wild trip and became one of Australia’s most audacious and successful agencies, embracing a strategically focused behavioural change model. Following that, Adam co-founded Thinkerbell - where they practices 'measured magic' - bringing together marketing science and hardcore creativity. After just 3 years Thinkerbell was officially recognised as Mumbrella’s 2021 Creative, Full Service, and PR Agency of the Year - the first time one agency has won all three awards.

In other news Adam is also the author of two books “The Advertising Effect” (Oxford), and 'Stop Listening to the Customer' (Wiley). Adam co-hosts the potentially multi-awarding winning podcast ‘Black T-Shirts’, and is a regular media commentator on Sunrise and The Project (and served his time on the panel of Gruen for 6 years). Adam is married to Anna and has two sons Asterix and Arturo (like the Kardashians but with an ‘A’).

Mark Green

Group CEO/Co-Founder The Monkeys, Lead Accenture Song ANZ

Mark Green started The Monkeys with creative partners Scott Nowell and Justin Drape back in June 2006 with a vision to create the most provocative agency in the country. Since then, The Monkeys has grown from three founders to over 170 employees working with the country’s most revered clients. In 2019, Mark took on the role of Lead Accenture Song ANZ.

Mark has worked on some of the world’s most renowned brands and campaigns including NRMA, Australia Post, IKEA, Telstra, Qantas, Parmalat, Bingle, Toyota, Fox Sports, FOXTEL, Gillette, UBank, United Nations, Blackmores, University of Sydney, Nike, Pacific Brands, Meat & Livestock Australia and Sydney Opera House.

Many of the campaigns Mark has led have been recognised locally and internationally at prestigious award shows including Cannes, D&AD, One Show and Clio.

Mark is also Chair of Advertising Council Australia.

Russel Howcroft

Partner, Chief Creative Officer, Sayers Group

Topic: 'Marketing Communications: The Best, The Worst and Why'

Over a long career in media and marketing, Russel has been one of the most prominent voices for the power and cultural/economic importance of advertising, particularly through his role as a panellist on the ABC’s Gruen program and fronting the documentary series How Australia Got Its Mojo.

His current roles include being a presenter on Melbourne’s no.1 rated 3AW radio breakfast program, chair of the Australian Film Television and Radio School and the cofounder of The Grid Melbourne, a festival designed to bring entrepreneurs and innovators together. He has held multiple senior roles across the industry having served as PwC’s first Chief Creative Officer (facilitating PwC's investment in Thinkerbell), Executive General Manager at Network 10, served as a board director on the ASX-listed Enero and as CEO of one of Australia’s leading agency groups, Y&R Brands where he was also a member of the global management team.

Russel has also chaired or sat on the boards of a number of key advertising, film and television industry bodies including being the inaugural Chair of ThinkTV, the Australian Film Institute, the Screen Forever Advisory Board, the ASX listed, Enero and he Chaired the AFA.

He has written/co-written three best-selling books, with his most recent book Right Brain Workout II now being published throughout the world. He is a founding partner and Chief Creative Officer at Sayers Group. And he continues to be actively involved in the advertising industry, via investments - in particular - in the young agency, Good One.

Simonne Burnett

Executive General Manager, Brand & Marketing, Australian Retirement Trust

Topic: 'What If You Could Start With a Blank Page?'

Simonne is a highly experienced executive with more than 25 years’ experience in marketing, branding and digital leadership. As the voice of the customer at the leadership table, Simonne blends a creative mindset with analytical curiosity to drive customer-led growth.

Having worked in banking (Westpac), wealth and super (ING Direct and MLC/ NAB Wealth), as well as professional services (PwC Australia), Simonne joined Australian Retirement Trust in January 2022.
